The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is conducting a research study about smoking cessation. In this study, we want to learn more about a drug called Clavulanic Acid (CLAV) and how it works to help people quit smoking. CLAV is a drug used in combination with antibiotics to make them work better, and is not used to treat a condition on its own. What we learn about CLAV in this study will help us design future smoking cessation trials. This study is a randomized blinded study so you will not know whether you have received CLAV or the placebo until after the data analysis is complete. This study includes one screening visit to determine your eligibility. If you qualify and wish to participate you will participate in a total of 6 study visits over a 2 week period. Study participation involves receiving the study drug in pill form as well as one blood draw.
