SPOTS ARE LIMITED!
Applications are being accepted and reviewed by the mentoring team on a rolling basis until all spots are filled or up to Friday, October 31, 2025. The program begins in January 2026.
We are pleased to announce that the Medical University of South Carolina has been awarded an Innovative Program to Enhance Research Training (IPERT) grant from the National Institutes of General Medical Sciences (NIH/NIGMS) to establish a national program of Academic Support and Coaching for Entrepreneurial Development (ASCEnD).
Purpose:
Using an innovative approach combining mentoring, coaching, and skill-building activities, the ASCEnD program aims to promote an entrepreneurial mindset among faculty and senior post-doctoral fellows.
Program Activities:
Over the course of a year, ASCEnD participants will partner with accomplished biomedical entrepreneur mentors and a professional coach, gaining personalized guidance through monthly individual and group mentoring sessions.
In addition, participants will complete entrepreneurship mindset surveys, an online entrepreneurship course, training in responsible conduct of research, and provide feedback and evaluation of the program.
Costs associated with the program, including course fees, will be covered through funding from NIGMS.
Application Information:
Applications are now being accepted from investigators (early- and mid-career faculty and senior postdoctoral fellows) at all U.S. universities (higher-educational institutions). Those with all levels of entrepreneurial experience are eligible to apply.
The application requires the following documents:
- a letter from the applicant's department/division chair, chief, or primary mentor confirming the applicant has the time to complete the program,
