Health Sciences South Carolina (HSSC), and its member institutions (AnMed Health, Clemson University, Greenville Health System, McLeod Health, MUSC Health, the Medical University of South Carolina, Palmetto Health, Self Regional Healthcare, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, and the University of South Carolina), have committed to aggressively tackle the epidemic of diabetes and obesity. The societal and economic impact of these health issues on South Carolina’s healthcare system, and its citizens, is staggering. If left unchecked, the outcome of these conditions will devastate our state and our future.

We are asking for your help to address this challenge. The first step is to understand what relevant expertise and initiatives are happening in South Carolina. This can include a broad range of activities ranging from basic research to clinical initiative to public health program. Project themes might include: nutrition, biomaterials, communications, molecular pathways< s>,< /s> quality improvement, outreach and engagement, and mobile phone application development. Please complete the survey!

HSSC plans to share the results of this survey, so that you can leverage expertise across the state, share lessons learned, collaborate and potentially build on each other’s work. Together we have a remarkable opportunity to gain national distinction by engaging the strengths of multiple partners to turn back this epidemic. It is a pivotal point in time for us to come together to improve the lives of South Carolinians.

We need your help in disseminating this survey to ensure that we capture a complete picture of the current standing of diabetes and obesity activities within our state. Get the word out! Forward this survey to anyone in South Carolina who may be working on a relevant project.
